Transformed Origins 20 cm x 30 cm Photography (Canon 70D) As we've become more civilized as a society, humans have lost a sense of rawness, of the essentials and we've distanced ourselves from our connection to nature and elements we used to interact with. The following photographs aim to express the differences between our past and the civilized society we've grown to become. The clear contrast shown in these images through the "wild" girl of the past and the same girl representing modern-day civilization aims to make us reflect upon the process of transformation we've undergone and acknowledge the beauty that can be found in the simplicity of what we used to be: wild, free and in deep connection with our surroundings. |

Stitches Dimensions: 10 x 15cm Cold ceramic & string I made this artwork inspired on a philosophy lesson we had in the Innovation Academy. They introduced us to the idea of stoicism from ancient Greek philosophers, explaining that we develop self-control and fortitude as a means for overcoming destructive emotions. In my artwork I wanted to portray how pain makes us stronger as individuals and the more negative emotions we experience, the more antifragile we become. I chose to focus on what is one of the hardest pains: emotional pain. I specifically represented with the anatomic heart instead of the common heart shape to portray a raw and honest version of the heart, with its scars and wounds and that isn't always going to be beautiful or easy to look at. |

Rather Have Stars Dimensions: 60 x 80cm Mixed media on canvas The purpose of my artwork was to represent a song I wrote about real friendships and their importance. The song metaphorically speaks of friends being like "stars" of your life, and while the "city glow" of the artificial city lights (representing popularity and being surrounded lots of people and friends) might seem exciting from the outside, when there's a "power outage" (a moment in your life when something goes wrong) and you're all alone in the dark, the only thing that will still shine in the midst of it all are the stars (your true friends). This comes to show how true friends will be there for you even in the darkest episodes of our life and how we must cherish and appreciate them.
